HealthierUS School Challenge
Together with USDA, Alaska is supporting the HealthierUS Schools Challenge (HUSSC). HUSSC is a voluntary initiative established in 2004 to recognize schools and Residential Child Care Institutions that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity. The goals of HUSSC is to identify schools that have made changes to:
- Improve the quality of foods served,
- Provide students with nutrition educations, and
- Provide students with physical education and opportunities for physical activity
Alaska Child Nutrition Programs is thrilled to have Kenai Peninsula School District and Petersburg City Schools reach the Bronze level for a total of 7 schools.
Schools or RCCIs interested in HUSSC may request on-site training for wellness teams by submitted the Request for State Agency training on HUSSC - word
