Increasing Student Success
These factors positively affect students’ success
in literacy:
- Regular opportunities to read and respond in writing
to literature, both fiction and nonfiction;
- Many opportunities for students to explore independent
reading;
- Rich writing experiences;
- The opportunity for students to use writing as a
tool for learning in all subject areas;
- Rich and varied opportunities for vocabulary development;
- Links between student background knowledge and new
content presented in text;
