--NCTM Standards

The Alaska Mathematics Standards focus on developing robust and concrete understandings of the ways that number systems work for students at all grade levels.

These five standards signal a major shift in the content of math curriculum. Computational skills are still an expected outcome of instruction, but students will also be expected to create their own patterns of computations that represent their own lines of reasoning.

You can explore each of the five content standards for more in-depth information about what students need to master in each standard. Click on the links on the left.
