| A battery of tests administered to an individual, who has reached a state-approved age and has not graduated from high school, in order to measure the extent to which their past experiences (in-school and out-of-school) have developed the knowledge, skills, and understandings ordinarily acquired through a high school education. Certificates of high school equivalency or diplomas are issued by most state departments of education for the successful completion of the Tests of General Educational Development.
